Network Services Announces EBSCO Trials, Explores Interest in Group Purchasing

Entry Categories: E-Resources

Nebraska libraries are already eligible for discounts on EBSCO databases when ordering through the Nebraska Library Commission. Now, EBSCO and NLC wants to see if there is interest among individual libraries in banding together to achieve additional savings through group purchases.

Possible scenarios might include a group of public libraries interested in subscribing to MasterFile Premier, Consumer Health Complete, or NoveList Plus. Or a group of K12 school libraries interested in Points of View Reference Center, Student Research Center, or Kids Search. Or a group of community colleges interested in Associates Programs Source Plus.

To facilitate the possible formation of groups, EBSCO is offering Nebraska libraries trial access to a long list of products through June 30, 2008. If you’ve had an interest in subscribing to EBSCO products in the past but haven’t been able to afford them, please take some time to look again at databases of interest.

Also, please take time to talk to colleagues at other libraries to see if you have some common interests. We will be soliciting feedback during the trial, but don’t feel like you have to wait for us to ask – if you know what you are interested in already, please let us know so we can start exploring options.
