Vendor Day May 1st

Interested in hearing the latest from a cross section of library vendors? Come to Vendor Day on Tuesday, May 1st at the Cornhusker Hotel in Lincoln. There is no registration fee for library staff and media specialists for this day's event so you can come learn about new products and have a great lunch at NO cost to you or your library. We do ask that you register for Vendor Day so we can keep a head count for sessions and meals. Lunch is complimentary for all library staff and media specialists attending Vendor Day.

We have added two additional technical sessions to this year's vendor day.

Second Life - One of the central tenants of Library 2.0 is "go to where the users are". The online, 3D virtual world Second Life has more than 1.5 million residents all potentially needing the services that a library can provide. This session, presented by Michael Sauers of the Nebraska Library Commission will introduce attendees to the both the world of Second Life and to the Second Life Library 2.0 project and the services that it offers.

Tech Terms - Do you know what podcasting is? Or phishing and malware? If you’re not familiar with Wikis, RSS feeds, or BitTorrent, you will soon be hearing about them from your patrons. This presentation by Michael Sauers of the Nebraska Library Commission will help you be more comfortable talking with your patrons about their technology needs.
