Library Development Services
ebraska Library Commission Grants: The Nebraska Library Commission awards grants to Nebraska libraries and library organizations according to the following schedule. These grants are financed with funding made available through the Nebraska Unicameral Legislature and through the Institute of Museum and Library Services under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act. Internship grants are funded through a partnership of Nebraska foundations.
Grants Schedule
Continuing Education and Training Grants
Available Due Recipients Announced November 3, 2009 December 17, 2009 January 15, 2010 Funds are available to assist libraries in providing continuing education and training for Nebraska library personnel. Accredited public libraries regional library systems, state-run institutions, and consortia of accredited public libraries are all eligible to apply. Library board members, volunteers, advocates, and other supporters may be included in the training, as appropriate.
* Please note that projects pertaining to the attendance at any statewide professional conferences (e.g. Nebraska Library Association (NLA)/Nebraska Educational Media Association (NEMA), Nebraska Educational Technology Association (NETA), Nebraska Library Commission workshops, regional System workshops and other similar meetings) will not be considered for funding.
Internship Grants

June 5, 2009June 19, 2009 The Nebraska Library Association and Nebraska Library Commission will offer grants to accredited public libraries for student internships. This joint project, Cultivating Nebraska Librarians 2.0: Building 21st Century Skills, is funded through a partnership of Nebraska foundations. These internships for youth workers are a follow-up to last year’s highly successful program, which was made possible through federal funding (that is not currently available). Internship grants introduce promising high school and college students to the varied and exciting work of Nebraska libraries. The internship functions as a recruitment tool, helping the participant view the library as a viable career opportunity.

Funds are available for accredited public libraries, regional library systems, and state-operated institutional libraries to improve library and information services to Nebraskans.

Available Due Recipients Announced August 14, 2009 October 2, 2009 November 20, 2009 Funds are available for innovative projects to serve children in public libraries. Children's librarians, young adult librarians, or librarians whose responsibilities include children's services are eligible to apply. Schools or other service agencies may be involved through collaborative planning and programming with public libraries.
